Mississauga ON - November 8, 2025 — Sailun Group Co., Ltd. Announced recently that it has been granted the certificate of membership in the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), becoming the first tire manufacturer in China to do so. The membership certificate was formally presented during the COP30 Climate Action Summit in Brazil by WBCSD Executive Vice Presidents Diane Holdorf and Dominic Waughray.
This milestone highlights the Sailun Group’s long-term commitment to reducing environmental impact, improving supply chain transparency, and accelerating the tire industry’s transition toward sustainable development.
“As a global tire manufacturer, we recognize our responsibility to help build a more sustainable future,” said Ron Dolan, President of Sailun Tire Americas. “Joining WBCSD allows us to collaborate with leading organizations and partners, exchange best practices, and continue advancing meaningful climate action across our operations and value chain.”
Sailun Group released its 12th annual Sustainability Report this year, introducing the company’s Eco+ Strategy, a long-term framework focused on four key pillars: Planet, Harmony, Production, and Governance. As part of this progress, Sailun highlighted its breakthrough “liquid gold” tire technology; an advanced, self-developed chemical rubber curing innovation that helps overcome long-standing industry challenges and supports greener, lower-carbon tire production throughout the product lifecycle. Through this strategy, Sailun is targeting a 30% reduction in carbon emissions and energy consumption per tire by 2030 and aims to achieve 100% sustainable material usage by 2050.
These efforts have earned the company strong international recognition. Sailun received a Silver Medal from EcoVadis, placing it among the top 15% of companies evaluated globally for sustainability performance. The company also received an “A” rating in MSCI’s ESG assessment, the highest rating in China’s tire industry.
All seven of Sailun’s operational factories have achieved ISO 14001(environmental management) and ISO 50001 (energy management) certifications. In addition, four of Sailun’s domestic plants have been designated as national Green Factories, reflecting leadership in sustainable manufacturing practices.
“WBCSD is pleased to welcome Sailun Group,” said Diane Holdorf, Executive Vice President of WBCSD. “We look forward to working together to accelerate decarbonization, scale sustainable materials, and support more resilient global supply chains.”
